God's Intended Purpose

In Proverbs 19:21 God’s Word states, Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that will prevail.

As I think about that verse, I’m reminded that even the best programs and ministries in the Church that we develop will have no lasting value unless they are based on God’s intended purpose from Scripture. I believe God has a specific purpose for you in the Body of Christ.

Do you know what your individual role is in the congregation?

Throughout Scripture Paul often describes the church as a physical body. In fact Colossians 1:18 declares ... Jesus is the head of the body, the church... and Colossians 2:19 describes the body as being ... supported and held together by its ligaments ... Then in Ephesians 4:16, Paul writes that the body grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. Don’t overlook the fact that this verse teaches the Church will grow when ... EACH PART DOES ITS WORK.

In order for our Bible Classes to grow, our congregation must grow. To see our congregation grow, we must all be involved in doing things that help maintain health in the Body of Christ. A healthy Church doesn’t happen by accident... it takes each member becoming actively involved in the life of that Church for growth to occur. Just as health brings growth to our physical body, a healthy church will experience spiritual and numerical growth.

Our vision statement for the Education Ministry at West-Ark is To bring all people closer to God and one another. So now ask yourself --- As each week passes by, am I actively involved in bringing people closer to God and one another? Or we could even make a personal application by asking the question --- As each day passes by, do I find myself closer to God and other people? If so, then encourage others to follow your example. But if not, why not? ...

Will I see you in Bible Class this week?
