THIS AGE OF WAR AND GRACE – BIBLE STUDY
We exist now in the age between the first and second coming
of Jesus Christ.
This is an age of war.
Jesus said: "Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword" (Matthew 10:34).
This is an age of grace.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).
But what does that mean? War? Grace?
How do we make sense of all this?
Everything (all understanding) centers around the person of Jesus Christ.
"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God" (1 Corinthians 1:18).
Anyone who believes the following truths about Jesus Christ will see the world much differently than anyone who does not. This is the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6) with which war is waged in the age of grace.
TRUTH (THE GOSPEL) OF JESUS CHRIST
-Jesus Christ was born of a virgin - as foretold.
-Jesus Christ lived a perfect sinless life - as foretold.
-Jesus Christ worked many miracles (the deaf received hearing, the blind received sight, the dead were raised to life) - proving that He was and is the promised Savior of the world - the foretold Messiah.
-Jesus Christ went willingly to the cross - to suffer and die for the sins of all mankind. Why? Because without blood there is no remission for sin (Hebrews 9:22). This is key to God's law, God's plan.
-Jesus Christ was raised from the dead by the power of God - as foretold.
-Jesus Christ showed Himself as the resurrected Savior - proving again and again that He was who He said He was and that He is who He said He is.
-Jesus Christ is the promised Savior of the world.
-Jesus Christ is the foretold Messiah.
-Jesus Christ was God who came to earth in the flesh - fully man and fully God.
-He came to save mankind from the curse of sin.
-Jesus Christ is now the resurrected Savior for us in this age.
Jesus died for the sin of all mankind, so that anyone in this age who chooses to believe (place all their trust) in Him can be forgiven and saved from the eternal punishment for sin (separation from God = hell). Anyone is free to choose Jesus right now and be saved from the curse of sin and death.
If anyone believes the message above, "the message of the cross" (1 Corinthians 1:18) - then it is strong evidence that they "are being saved". On the other hand, anyone does not believe "the message of the cross" - if the information above is "foolishness" - then they are "perishing" according to God's Word (1 Corinthians 1:18).
This is a salvation test for mankind in the age of war and grace.
Question: Is the cross of Jesus Christ foolishness to you?
Answer Yes = you are perishing according to the Word of God (1 Corinthians 1:18)
Remember: It is the Lord's will that non should perish but that all should come to repentance (a turning away from sin - a turning towards God). 2 Peter 3:9

Where there is confusion: It's the understanding of sinful man that is flawed.
Right now we exist in a fallen world. We are literally immersed in sin. That's why it sometimes seems so difficult to make sense of things.

Over time, scientists would build on his initial ideas to form the modern synthesis; the Universe was once in an extremely hot and dense state which expanded rapidly. The first element produced was hydrogen, along with traces of helium and lithium. Being a Priest he would be familiar with the bible and his ideas have been obviously been influenced by it. Therefore if the Bible is correct then further investigation would corroborate his hypothesis. Water is hydrogen and oxygen and the sun is mainly hydrogen and humans mostly water.
The predominant elements in the Sun By mass, it is 70% hydrogen, 28% helium, 1.5% carbon, nitrogen and oxygen, and 0.5% all other elements. We expect stars of the Sun's size to be composed mainly of hydrogen and helium since these are the elements formed shortly after the Big Bang.

His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. 17 Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

The Liberty Institute has announced the launch of its Armed Forces Religious Liberty hotline – (972) 941-4543 – along with a petition to support Christian members of the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force.
“The Pentagon released an appalling official statement that I didn’t believe at first, but unfortunately it’s true,” said Kelly Shackelford, president and CEO of the organization. “They are about to implement a new policy under which any members of the military ‘caught’ talking about their Christian faith will be subject to court martial or imprisonment!”
Shackelford said his group is establishing the emergency hotline “to protect our armed forces members, who can call and get free legal representation when they are persecuted for their Christian faith.”

The motivations for most people who abandon TV fall into
three categories, Krcmar found.
Some give it up to avoid exposing their families to the
excessive sex,
violence, and consumerism they feel are promoted onscreen. Others object to
the medium itself, claiming television intrudes too much into their lives,
interferes with conversation and takes time away from the family. Finally, some
people have a beef with the power and values of the television industry and
don't want its influence in their homes.
Science does in fact support many non-watchers' worst fears
about TV.
"The research tends to show that increased exposure to
television and violence results in greater
aggression in children," Krcmar said. "That's a pretty consistent
finding."
Though not all children become more violent, and everyone
reacts uniquely, it's fair to say that what we watch affects us.
When parents did cut television out of their homes, they
reported that their kids didn't bug them as much for junk food and toys
advertised on TV. They also said giving up television made their children
easier to manage.
"It's sort of counter-intuitive, because people think
their kids would drive them nuts without TV," Krcmar said. "But
parents found that kids became very good at entertaining themselves and didn't
need to be entertained all the time by something that was lively and active.
They didn’t complain about being bored."

Note that in certain versions of the NIV Bible (specifically the 1984 version) the reference to Christ as "cornerstone" (in several verses) was incorrectly altered to read "capstone". Apparently this error has been corrected in the most recent versions of the NIV Bible.

Now, it is likely that David wasn't too pleased with Saul as he threw spears at David and chased him all over the country side trying to kill him... but he still considered him as "The Lord's Anointed"

The label sticks no matter how we act.
